Born in the Kojima area of Kurashiki, the town of textiles, kojima beri is making the old in Japan new through its tatamiberi.
Modern tatamiberi—the decorative edging of tatami mats—is a valuable fabric unlike anything else in the world, made with polyethylene thread, polypropylene thread, polyester thread, and glossy cotton threads, and has a sense of novelty in its unique designability.
Since it was established, kojima beri has passed on its spirit of careful weaving, and values tradition as it creates new tatamiberi.
